Tia laser trải qua quá trình định hình chùm tia quang học trước khi được mở rộng, lọc và hội tụ trước khi chạm vào vật liệu gốm. Quá trình này làm bay hơi phần chất nền bị chùm tia laser chiếu vào, hình thành các đường khắc trên bề mặt.
